In 2022, EHI Founder and Director Rita O’Brien, was struck by major health issues that landed her in the hospital and then long-term rehabilitation. The Board at the time made the very hard decision to close EHI’s physical offices and to halt fundraising, marketing, and client services. But as time went by, mothers in need continued to need assistance and reached out to Rita, the heart and soul of EHI. In turn, while still working towards a healthy recovery, Rita began to provide support and assistance when she could.

So while EHI no longer receives or holds physical donations such as clothes or diapers, EHI, through Rita, continues to support and assist mothers in need whether by phone, email, or the occasional in-person visit, connecting them with resources, providing gift cards when available, being a listening ear, and helping moms and moms-to-be build an action plan to help them and their families move out of crisis and towards stability and security.

With the multitude of mothers who reached out, Rita felt it was important to continue the EHI Christmas Wishlist Toy & Coat Drive with a focus on providing gift cards alongside a new toy or two once again provided by local churches and nonprofit organizations. This year, EHI hopes to be able to provide $25 gift certificates to each of the 56 mothers and their 188 children, totaling nearly 250. Providing $25 gift certificates for each, EHI has a goal of raising $6,250. Please consider donating $25, $50 or more. EHI will turn your donations into gift cards that provide little ones with a new toy, warm clothes, and possibly a family meal.

Your generous donation to Emmanuel House International makes a direct impact, providing moms and little ones with support, joy, and security this holiday season and beyond.
